It has been a busy term for the young men of the Class of 2024 culminating with a week at AFX. I have no doubt they will all be looking forward to relaxing during the holidays and enjoying some home cooked meals. The feedback from staff involved in AFX highlighted the great camaraderie of our young men and how impressive their teamwork skills are.

Term 1 reports were uploaded to Parent Lounge earlier this week. The reports provide an ideal starting point for a conversation with your son about the positive aspects of his academic progress and how these could be used to inform progress in other areas. A set of meditative questions based on his overall learner protocol scores for the term was published with the reports. The questions are personalised and are intended to help students reflect in a deep and meaningful way.

We have made it! Term 1 has come to a close. It’s been very quiet this week without the Year 9 boys on campus; I am sure you all felt the same at home. They will all come bounding back this afternoon, tired, hungry and ready for a well-deserved rest! From the tales I have heard already, the boys have LOVED camp and I am excited to hear all the stories when they return in Term 2. I want to share the following short story with you about enjoying all the moments of your life. You might want to share the story with your son, when he musters up the energy to tell you about his adventures on camp.

Once a fisherman was sitting near the seashore, under the shadow of a tree, smoking his beedi. Suddenly a rich businessman passing by approached him and enquired as to why he was sitting under a tree smoking and not working. To this the poor fisherman replied that he had caught enough fish for the day.

It is with mixed emotions that I write my final newsletter today. When I joined Knox as a SAO in 2013, little did I know what an incredible journey I was about to embark on.

To the CO2024, I am the proudest SAO in the world. We’ve had an awesome time together and I have loved every minute of it. I know we won’t be seeing each other from next term but I wanted you to know that you are an incredible group of boys. I believe in each and every one of you and I know that you will achieve great things and will no doubt change the world in some way. Boys, you’ve made me laugh, taught me how to use my mobile phone, catch a rugby ball and hit a cricket ball - just to mention a few. I will always cherish all the memories we have made together. All the best as you continue your Knox journey. I look forward to one day reading all about what you’ve been up to!
