Welcome back and welcome to those families who have joined the Knox community for Term 2.

Hopefully the holidays were an opportunity for students to clear the clutter, to recharge and to set personal goals for the term ahead. To get the most out of Term 2, it is essential that students organise themselves well and establish positive routines. Encourage your sons, if they have not done so already, to spend time outlining their goals as well as identifying strategies that will assist them in attaining their targets. I can confidently say the planning and hard work will pay off, and that staff look forward to supporting the boys over the coming months.

I cannot believe we are about to enter the winter sport season after a very enjoyable and successful summer season. There is a real sense of belief amongst the boys with our results and participation at all levels reaching new heights.

It has been wonderful to see the young men of the Class of 2024 return to school looking refreshed and ready to embrace all the challenges and opportunities Term 2 has to offer. I have enjoyed hearing from them about the highlights of their holidays. They appear rejuvenated and ready to strive for their best during this busy term.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mrs Karen Thong to the Year 9 team in the role of Student Administrative Officer. Karen, who brings a wealth of experience from her previous role, will be a wonderful addition to the team with her professional manner and caring, compassionate disposition. She is looking forward to supporting you and your sons on their educational journey for the next three and a half years.

Welcome back to Term 2! I trust all families enjoyed quality time away from the daily hustle and bustle that is Knox Grammar School and have returned refreshed and excited about the short, but very busy term that lies ahead.

At the end of last term, I was privileged to be able to attend the Annual Field Exercise for the Cadet Unit at Lithgow with the boys and girls. In my role during the Camp, I was able to get around to most companies and see the boys in action; be it on the day trek through the Lost City, the High Ropes Course in Newnes State Forest or at the Water Activity in the Marangaroo Army Base. I was extremely proud to see all the boys and girls getting involved in these activities whole heartedly and enjoying themselves in the Australian Bush. I am certain that memories of many of these activities will remain with the boys for many years to come.

I am delighted to be the new SAO for the Class of 2024. Please note that my last name is pronounced Tong as the 'h' is silent.

By way of background, I have been a part of the local community for many years and have two daughters who have recently finished at another local private school. They embraced every opportunity offered and are now both enjoying University life. To Knox, I bring not only my work experience but my experience as a parent, empathy and, most importantly, a friendly smile.

It has been a busy week getting to know the ropes and I look forward to getting to know the Class of 2024 and our families.

Uniform
Welcome back to Term 2. It was great to see all the students return to school looking sharp in their winter uniform.

I kindly request parents to check that their son has the correct school winter uniform and that it fits! Please note that the school uniform requires a belt to be worn, an item which many boys are choosing to overlook. Colourful socks do not meet the School's uniform code.

In addition, a reminder that a student's hair needs to be above his eyebrows and off his ears and collar. The School Diary has further information regarding School rules around the uniform policy and hair. It is important that the boys take pride in their appearance. Look sharp, work smart.

Before I report on all of the wonderful news from Sport over the break, I would like to take the opportunity to remind all families of the latest COVID-19 restrictions you may encounter this coming weekend.
