Welcome back and welcome to those families who have joined the Knox community for Term 2.

Hopefully the holidays were an opportunity for students to clear the clutter, to recharge and to set personal goals for the term ahead. To get the most out of Term 2, it is essential that students organise themselves well and establish positive routines. Encourage your sons, if they have not done so already, to spend time outlining their goals as well as identifying strategies that will assist them in attaining their targets. I can confidently say the planning and hard work will pay off, and that staff look forward to supporting the boys over the coming months.

I cannot believe we are about to enter the winter sport season after a very enjoyable and successful summer season. There is a real sense of belief amongst the boys with our results and participation at all levels reaching new heights.

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope that you and your families enjoyed a well-deserved break over Easter and found some time to rest, recharge and reconnect - whether your break was filled with relaxation or adventure. Boys certainly seem to have returned to school refreshed and it is wonderful to hear some of the exciting ways they spent their time over the holidays. The new term has brought back the pressed white shirts and grey pants. Most of the boys are looking smart in their winter uniforms, which is pleasing to see. We discussed starting the term on the ‘right’ foot in Year Meeting this week and their appearance is definitely an important part of this. We have reminded the Year 8's that they should have come back to school with Knox standard haircuts and if they did not have the time to address this in the holidays, then they should be visiting the barber on the weekend. Some boys have clearly grown since the last wearing of their winter uniform pants and some hems may need to be unstitched to allow for their extra height.

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and spent time with family and friends, enjoying the beautiful weather.

The boys are straight back into the routine of Senior School, with upcoming assessment tasks due to be handed in during Weeks 2 and 3.

A reminder that boys are required to be in their winter uniform. This consists of long grey pants, white long-sleeved shirt, black belt, tie, blazer, and black or grey socks and boater. Students are reminded that mobile phones are required to remain in their lockers throughout the day and are not to be carried around campus at all. Phones will be confiscated and parents will be emailed on the second occasion that this is not followed.

Before I report on all of the wonderful news from Sport over the break, I would like to take the opportunity to remind all families of the latest COVID-19 restrictions you may encounter this coming weekend.

French April Fools' Day

At the end of Term 1, Mrs Beckett from our Languages Department discussed with her Year 8 French students about April Fools' Day in France. Their tradition is to stick paper fish on as many people's backs as possible and run away shouting ‘Poisson d’avril!’ This tradition dates back to 1854.

Year 8 Street Art Designs

Year 8 Visual Arts students were tasked with hand drawing a street art design that responded to a contemporary social issue. Afterwards, they used their skills in Adobe Photoshop to digitally install their design on a specific site related to their chosen issue. These designs demonstrated a deep understanding of the street art aesthetic and portrayed a range of powerful issues.
