Welcome back and welcome to those families who have joined the Knox community for Term 2.

Hopefully the holidays were an opportunity for students to clear the clutter, to recharge and to set personal goals for the term ahead. To get the most out of Term 2, it is essential that students organise themselves well and establish positive routines. Encourage your sons, if they have not done so already, to spend time outlining their goals as well as identifying strategies that will assist them in attaining their targets. I can confidently say the planning and hard work will pay off, and that staff look forward to supporting the boys over the coming months.

I cannot believe we are about to enter the winter sport season after a very enjoyable and successful summer season. There is a real sense of belief amongst the boys with our results and participation at all levels reaching new heights.

Welcome back to Term 2!!

I hope you all enjoyed the opportunity to rest and relax during the holidays after a very busy Term 1 filled with many new experiences. The boys have returned looking very smart in their winter uniform, with a new confidence in making their way around the campus and interactions with each other. All students have been dressed very well and certainly back into the routine of the week in classes, sport practice and co-curricular activities.

As we move into the second part of Semester One our year meeting turned to focus on a number of key areas for the boys as they begin their journey into further rigour around assessments and more independent tasks across all of their subject areas. This week in year meeting, Ms Charlton our Director of Studies spoke to the group in a number of key areas; being organised and what this looks like at home and during the school day, goal setting for a new term and being able to reflect upon key strengths and weaknesses in all aspects of total fitness. This point will be further explored and discussed with the boys and their mentors during upcoming sessions in our unit on Skills of Accomplishment. The activities provide our boys with a chance to highlight, note and share their strengths yet also be guided in recognising an area of improvement for this semester.

Welcome to Term 2! It was lovely to see the boys on Tuesday morning all dressed in their winter uniform looking very smart indeed. For Terms 2 and 3, all boys are required to wear full Senior School winter uniform. If you are unsure about the winter uniform please click here for more details.

A big congratulation to Marcus Wang as he has is now the Boys Under 13 Australian Squash Junior Open for 2021! Great job, Marcus.

One of the best tools the boys have to help them with organisation and time management is their School Diary. Students should have their diary with them at school every day, for every lesson. The diary also has an extremely useful section for parents, with information regarding general rules, information and requirements, School policy and Procedures, and positive education - just to mention a few.

Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a relaxing, enjoyable and safe Easter break.

Before I report on all of the wonderful news from Sport over the break, I would like to take the opportunity to remind all families of the latest COVID-19 restrictions you may encounter this coming weekend.

Each school has very similar policies with regard to number of spectators permitted, however, there are a number of subtle differences between each school such as canteens. Links to each school policy are shared below.

Process for Sports fixtures - Saturday 24 April 2021
1. Check the team list to see your son’s team – see the Knox app (download instructions)
2. Check the sports draw to see where and when your son’s team is playing – check the Knox app

• QR code registration will be in place across all facilities at entry points, with standard health checks and questions.

Youth Mental Health Screening Study
Knox is excited to be participating in a study on youth mental health screening in schools, conducted by Macquarie University in partnership with the NSW Department of Education and Ministry of Health, The Association of Independent Schools of NSW, and Catholic Schools NSW, along with the NSW Mental Health Commission.

Sadly, more than half of Australian young people with mental health disorders do not get treatment. This study aims to transform the management of mental (or emotional) health in young people by identifying youth who are struggling with emotional distress and getting them to appropriate help early.
