As you would appreciate, we are continually updating and considering our practices in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We take into account both the NSW Government guidelines and NSW Health orders, to ensure our practices support the wellbeing of our students and staff across all Knox campuses.

Our students and staff have responded exceptionally well to our updated practices in regard to entry onto campus health screening measures, hygiene and distancing practices and ongoing education on behaviours in support of the wellbeing of our immediate and wider community.

Following recent updated guidelines in regard to schools we now request that if your son has been absent due to a flu-like illness, or develops flu-like symptoms whilst at school, he should not to return to school until he has a negative COVID-19 test and is symptom free. The School also requires a copy of your son’s negative COVID-19 test result prior to returning to campus.

There is an undercurrent of excitement amongst the Year 12s as it starts to hit home that there are just 11 school days left! There are always mixed emotions as Trial Examination results come back and inevitably there will be elation and disappointment. No matter what the outcome, we encourage the boys to keep their results in perspective, learn from feedback and keep targeting areas for improvement. Setting achievable goals is important so the boys can continue to improve. Goals will be different depending on the situation of each boy and all we as a school expect from the boys, is just for them to do their best.

We hope you have been enjoying the videos that have been created to showcase the boys' work and performances. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing Major Works, watching performances and learning about Extension subjects and hope you have been able to enjoy them and help the boys celebrate their achievements.

As you might appreciate in planning the Year 12 final events, we are in constant communication with the Association of Independent Schools in trying to develop a way to mark those rites of passage in a COVID-19 safe way. Normally these events are planned well in advance and I’d like to thank all those involved in planning these next couple of weeks as we have had to continually change plans and think creatively to come up with new ways to celebrate Year 12. I’d like to particularly thank Ms Megan Bailey, Mr David Hayes and Mr Cooper Morrison from the Communications and Audio Visual Departments respectively, who have been working particularly hard.

We are really looking forward to the next couple of weeks with the boys, but also feel a sense of sadness as the time with them is coming to an end. They are a remarkable group of boys and I know you will hear more of that in those final speeches.

Have a great weekend. I hope it is a little more relaxed with the Trials out of the way!

I can't quite believe there are only 11 school days left - what an amazing journey we have been on, especially this year. I am really looking forward to the celebrations that we have planned in the coming days. I have listed below as many details as I can at this stage. The rules and boundaries are changing daily. We will keep you up dated as soon as we know.

We recommend all students log onto the NESA site Students Online. They will be able to check all their personal details and download their own personalised HSC Timetable. Students will require their NESA number and Pin to log in. These details were emailed to them in April this year, however, if they have misplaced them, please ask your son to come into the WSA office and speak to Ms Billington or myself. Please click on this link to view the full HSC timetable.

UTS and UNSW have announced significant changes to their admission process for 2021 and these details are posted on the Careers Hub. All students and parents are encouraged to keep checking the Careers Hub for important messages and updates posted by Mrs Gomez.

Please click here to read a lovely message from Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC Governor of New South Wales.

Today, we enjoyed performances by Will Gibson, Calum Pincott, Damian Lam, Morgan Singleton and Lucas van de Scheur. Please click on this link.

Finally, this week the WSA team 'Weeding's Warriors' have been been flat out with the Ride With Richter challenge. We are one of the nine Knox staff teams participating. I have attached a couple of photos.

Have a lovely weekend.

It was fantastic to welcome the boys back from Trials on Wednesday. From our perspective we are really relieved to have completed the exams without incident, especially during these uncertain times that we are living in. The boys were fantastic during the exam period, and we really appreciated the way they embraced the changes we implemented as part of our COVID-19 Safety Plan for examinations.

While it is important the boys find some time to relax and recharge now that exams are over, it is also important to keep working and to act on all feedback received from the Trial Exams. Significant improvements from now to the HSC are possible. At the Year Meeting on Wednesday we showed the boys some data that demonstrated the improvements that were made by many boys in the Class of 2019 from Trials through to HSC. These next three weeks of classes prior to the break are important to lay the foundations required to achieve this improvement.

To assist with planning, the following is provided as a guide as to what will occur post-Trials.

• Classes continue as per the normal teaching timetable through to the end of the day on Wednesday 16 September. All boys are expected to attend every class. Teachers are relying on every period they have left to ensure effective feedback is provided and that all course material is completed.
• Normal classes will not occur on 17, 18 and 21 September .
• Classes will resume Tuesday 22 September and run through to Friday 25 September.

• Knox Academic Indicator (KAI) interviews occur throughout Week 10. Full details, including information about booking an appointment through PTO will be sent out soon.
• A draft Yearly Report will be published online on Friday 18 September in preparation for the KAI interviews. Some data may be missing from this report such as prize winners. The final updated report will be available through Student Café and Parent Lounge on Friday 25 September.
