YEAR 12 WEEK 3 TERM 2 2020

Year 12 Week 3 Term 2 2020

Hero Image

The smiles on the faces of the boys was infectious on Monday as we welcomed the Class of 2020 back on the school premises. This group of young men have shown time and time again that they are resilient, adaptable and compliant as they adjust to the changed protocols of movement around the School and social distancing in the Seniors' Hall and classrooms. As we adjust to being back at Knox, it is important to remember that some things haven’t changed, for example, letting Mrs Cherry know when your son is absent from school or late to class, getting haircuts that comply with our standards and being clean shaven each day. How we present ourselves does reflect attitude and behaviour and we want the boys to approach each lesson with focus and perseverance.

Morris Pang, Tyson Bujak-Upton, Kale Gabila and Lucas van de Scheur reflected on the benefits of online learning in year meeting this week. The efficiency of each lesson, the ability to ask questions on the private chat function, the need to develop self-discipline and focus and really appreciating everything Knox has to offer were four key points and it is very clear that not taking this place for granted has been a theme for many boys. The Knox teaching staff have also had the opportunity to reflect on the positive aspects of online learning so we can attempt to incorporate these benefits into our teaching practice moving forward.

Thursday and Friday were very productive days with about 100 boys on-site working on their major works while other boys consolidated their work. It was great to see so many major works in progress and the passion the boys have for their creations.

As the easing of restrictions in NSW increases on Friday, we must continue to talk to the boys about their social responsibilities as well as enjoy the new freedoms we are allowed.

Have a lovely weekend.

Welcome back ...

What a wonderful sight on Monday morning when Year 12 started arriving at school and entered the Senior Centre - the boys' smiles and enthusiasm was contagious. It has been a tricky few weeks and the Senior Centre is alive again. I'm sure moving forward the boys will settle back into school life and have a great year.

Senior School assembly on Thursday was very unique, with Rev Peter 'revving up' the boys for the recommencement of face-to-face learning arriving on his motorbike! Rev Peter and Rev Tim also compiled a 'Revving It Up' video; watch and enjoy.

I know the boys have enjoyed having their hair creativity; however, now they are returning to campus please ensure your son has his hair cut to Knox standards and is clean shaven, in full school uniform everyday. Saying that, at the moment the boys are not required to wear their boater until they have access to their lockers. The boys are not permitted to wear any other type of other jumper. If your son is cold he can wear his jersey under his blazer and scarves are available at the Uniform Shop. Year 12 set the standard for the School; their presence is respected.

Have a lovely weekend!

HSC Exam 2020 Update

knox/bios/2021/03/16/Clarke_Helen.JPG

Today all HSC students received their exam timetable.  As was reported on the NESA website today, with the release of the timetable came the notification that the HSC has been delayed 5 days.  This will have no impact on our Trial dates  (19 August to 2 September)  or teaching programs.  A personalised timetable is available on Students Online on the NESA website.  We encourage all boys to take this opportunity to ensure all their details registered with NESA are up to date, in particular full name as per birth certificate as this will appear on HSC documents. Students are to log on with their NESA exam number and they should already have their PIN. If the PIN has been forgotten this link will assist.  Other particulars to be checked include enrolled HSC subjects, postal address and mobile phone number for SMS notifications from NESA and delivery of HSC results. If details are incorrect, the adjustments can be made while logged on.  If anyone has difficulties, Mrs Billington will be able to assist.  This is also a good opportunity to remind boys to ensure they keep backing up all work on their computer, especially anything pertaining to a major work. Ideally all boys should be using Google Backup and Sync. If anyone is unclear on whether this is occurring on their machines they should contact the IT Helpdesk.
