Welcome back and welcome to those families who have joined the Knox community for Term 2.

Hopefully the holidays were an opportunity for students to clear the clutter, to recharge and to set personal goals for the term ahead. To get the most out of Term 2, it is essential that students organise themselves well and establish positive routines. Encourage your sons, if they have not done so already, to spend time outlining their goals as well as identifying strategies that will assist them in attaining their targets. I can confidently say the planning and hard work will pay off, and that staff look forward to supporting the boys over the coming months.

I cannot believe we are about to enter the winter sport season after a very enjoyable and successful summer season. There is a real sense of belief amongst the boys with our results and participation at all levels reaching new heights.

As the mornings start to cool and the nervous energy starts to build in the WSA after the break, the Class of 2021 are set for another exciting chapter of their Year 12 journey. As this new chapter begins it is important to reflect on the experiences and achievements that took place in Week 10, Term 1 and over the Easter break. The Year 12 Cadets were outstanding and are to be commended for their efforts during their final AFX and this is testament to their character and ongoing commitment to the Cadet Unit. The impressive achievements continued over the break with many of our boys being involved across various sporting programs, National Swimming Titles and National Music Competitions. A huge congratulations must go to all the students performing in Junior B Grade Nations with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Concert Band and a special mention to the amazing efforts of Joshua Collett and Joseph Hamson who were selected in the Junior Dolphins Squad due to their performances at the National Swimming Championships.

Welcome back! It feels like we are straight 'back to business' with the Co2021 being very committed to study and planning. With holidays already fading into memory, please note in the Upcoming Events section listed below some dates you might like to diarise for Term 2 - our second last term at Knox. I would also encourage you to read through the section following from our Director of Career Education and Development, Mrs Gomez, and note any dates you may be interested in attending.

With a nine week term and plenty happening this week, we have managed to merge social and academic events well. Talk amongst the students has begun regarding the upcoming clash at Bankwest Stadium tomorrow, the Formal as well as University breakfasts, and the Year 12 Valedictory BBQ. It has been fantastic to welcome parents back on campus.

The boys appear to have returned to Term 2 with great enthusiasm. We trust they had a restful break but are also prepared for assessment tasks that commenced this week.

The second round of Knox Academic Interviews (KAI) will start next week from Monday 26 April through to Friday 30 April via Zoom. On Tuesday at Year Meeting we spoke to the boys about how they should approach this interview. We encouraged them not to focus on the KAI number but instead use it as an opportunity to set goals for the term ahead. KAI is all about the discussions generated by how they are performing in each subject and the scaled contribution (KAM) of each subject. The goal is to lift the KAM throughout the remaining internal assessment tasks.

Macquarie University - Business School Breakfast Seminar
Students from Years 10, 11 and 12 are invited to attend this event on Thursday 29 April from 7am in the WSA Lecture Theatre.

Students will hear from Macquarie University academics and lecturers who will present on the different majors available within the Business School and the extensive opportunities a degree in business can present. I would encourage students interested in studying a Business, Commerce, Finance, Actuarial Studies or Accounting degree at any university to attend this event.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this event is for students only. However, the event will be recorded and the recording to be made available to parents at a later date.

Due to limited space available in the WSA Lecture Theatre, students must register to attend this event. Students can click here to register. Since the end of Term 1, Year 12 have been given priority to register before registrations open to Year 10 and 11 students from today.

ANZAC Service and Parade

We are pleased to announce that the Knox ANZAC Service and Parade will go ahead on Sunday 2 May 2021 at 8.30am with some modifications and restrictions. All students in the Cadet Unit are expected to attend this event.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, we will be limiting spectators to two tickets per Year 11 and 12 Cadets, Pipes and Drums, Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Gallery Choir students only. We will continue to monitor government advice and recommendations, and should more tickets become available, we will update parents. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

The service and parade will be live streamed here: www.knox.nsw.edu.au/anzac.

If you have any questions, please email events@knox.nsw.edu.au.
