YEAR 11 WEEK 4 TERM 3 2020

Year 11 Week 4 Term 3 2020

Hero Image

It has been an emotional week for all those that are connected to the Class of 2021. The collective grieving process for the sad passing of the much-loved Robbie Ferguson has been one of respectful solidarity and sadness. However, the sense of togetherness that the Class of 2021 possess was emphasised on Wednesday as they gathered to hear an address from Mr James, Reverend Tim Robinson and myself.

Mr James spoke of the brotherhood that exists within Knox and Robbie was very much a key member of this brotherhood with each and every member being touched by this sad event. The outpouring of emotion was evident throughout the addresses and it was moving to witness so much support and compassion taking place throughout the year group. The organic and beautiful movement of the group to firstly lay flowers and cards at the front of the WSA, to the tightly huddled mass of unified souls positioned in silence in front of the WSA was a wonderful display of mateship and a fitting tribute to Robbie.

This week has allowed for flexibility with the boys’ approach to the normal school routine with well-being spaces and support facilities being made available for all of the year group. As the grieving process continues, we’ll continue to support the boys. There has been communication from Mr James with strategies for you to best support your son at this time.

I would like to acknowledge this has been a very sad and challenging week for Year 11 students, families and staff. I could not be more proud of the young men of the cohort in coming together in support and comfort of each other in loving memory of Robbie Ferguson.

As I am sure many of you will need to, this weekend I will endeavour to make time to do something for myself, to take me to that restful and happy place, to continue the healing process and prepare to move ahead. Please take care of yourselves.

Uniform Shop during COVID-19

In line with the current NSW Health guidelines and in order to mitigate the risks posed by COVID-19, the Uniform Shop staff have taken measures to ensure the safety of students, parents and other staff. External cleaners professionally clean all high-touch areas and surfaces every evening with a non-toxic, hospital grade disinfectant. During the day our staff spray down the changing rooms and service areas. Each room is equipped with hand sanitiser and wall-mounted hand sanitiser stations are at the entry.

Each room is limited to the number of people permitted and that is stated on the entrance to each room. Because of this, we have limited capacity in the changing rooms of only two rooms being operational and only one parent per child who is trying on uniform. As Term 4 is the changeover to summer uniform, can we please request that you take this into consideration. For the remainder of Term 3, we will also be sizing uniforms for Year 8 Cadets.

The options for purchasing uniform are as follows:

• Where possible, if you know the correct sizes to order, please order online through Flexischools.
• If you do require sizing, please make a note before coming what sizes your son is currently wearing.
• In Years 7-12, your son can come to the Uniform Shop at lunchtime. We can provide the sizes required and order online via Flexischools.

To avoid long waiting times towards the end of term, we would advise checking your son’s summer uniform now and, if you require new uniform, please order early. Orders are delivered to Knox Prep and Wahroonga Prep on Wednesday and Friday. Students in the Senior School are permitted to collect orders at lunchtime or after school. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Uniform Shop opening times: Monday through to Friday, 12.30-5pm.

Congratulations to Ed Ogilvy and Liam Puncher, both of whom played in the Sydney Swans Academy games against the GWS Giants last Saturday in Woolongong. Ed played in the 'futures team' and won 64 -27 in very wet and challenging conditions, while Liam played in the  'top end' team defeating GWS Giants 49 -34. Well done, gents.
