Welcome back and welcome to those families who have joined the Knox community for Term 2.

Hopefully the holidays were an opportunity for students to clear the clutter, to recharge and to set personal goals for the term ahead. To get the most out of Term 2, it is essential that students organise themselves well and establish positive routines. Encourage your sons, if they have not done so already, to spend time outlining their goals as well as identifying strategies that will assist them in attaining their targets. I can confidently say the planning and hard work will pay off, and that staff look forward to supporting the boys over the coming months.

I cannot believe we are about to enter the winter sport season after a very enjoyable and successful summer season. There is a real sense of belief amongst the boys with our results and participation at all levels reaching new heights.

Welcome back to Term 2! It was lovely to welcome the young men of Year 11 back this week and they appear calm and collected as they found their academic pace this week.

During our Year Meeting this week, the boys were reminded about the importance of engaging with each experience that Knox has to offer. In a session led by the student body, the boys were invited to attend an English peer review session on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the different styles of writing in preparation for the assessment task that took place on Thursday. The engagement that the students have with their academic studies is overwhelmingly positive and it is wonderful to see them working collaboratively to provide a richer learning experience for all.

A warm welcome back to Term 2. The 2022 cohort look relaxed and eager to get back into their school routines.

Year 11 enjoyed their first Chapel service in the Knox Chapel this week. It has been a long time since the boys have enjoyed Chapel in this beautiful space. Rev Robinson led a beautiful service - thank you.

The Term 2 Assessment Gantt Chart is on the portal and can be accessed here for ease.

We look forward to welcoming parents to the Year 11 Morning Tea on Monday 26 April at 11am in the Great Hall Foyer.

The boys appear to have returned to Term 2 with great enthusiasm. We trust they had a restful break but managed to stay on top of their studies and preparation for upcoming assessment tasks. The Year 11 teachers are looking forward to the upcoming 'Student Led Parent/Teacher Conferences' next Monday 26 April.

Due to the current circumstances with COVID-19 restrictions around large gatherings indoors, the arrangements for the interviews are as follows (communicated in newsletter last term):

• Interviews will be on Zoom.
• Interviews will be held in the afternoon and evening of Monday 26 April.
• The interviews will be booked through the PTO online booking system. On Wednesday this week, parents received an email from Mrs Billington that provided full details on how to make a booking. Bookings opened yesterday Thursday 22 April.

Macquarie University - Business School Breakfast Seminar
Students from Years 10, 11 and 12 are invited to attend this event on Thursday 29 April from 7am in the WSA Lecture Theatre.

Students will hear from Macquarie University academics and lecturers who will present on the different majors available within the Business School and the extensive opportunities a degree in business can present. I would encourage students interested in studying a Business, Commerce, Finance, Actuarial Studies or Accounting degree at any university to attend this event.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this event is for students only. However, the event will be recorded and the recording to be made available to parents at a later date.

Due to limited space available in the WSA Lecture Theatre, students must register to attend this event. Students can click here to register. Since the end of Term 1, Year 12 have been given priority to register before registrations open to Year 10 and 11 students from today.

Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a relaxing, enjoyable and safe Easter break.

Before I report on all of the wonderful news from Sport over the break, I would like to take the opportunity to remind all families of the latest COVID-19 restrictions you may encounter this coming weekend.

Each school has very similar policies with regard to number of spectators permitted, however, there are a number of subtle differences between each school such as canteens. Links to each school policy are shared below.

Process for Sports fixtures - Saturday 24 April 2021
1. Check the team list to see your son’s team – see the Knox app (download instructions)
2. Check the sports draw to see where and when your son’s team is playing – check the Knox app
3. Is he playing at a Knox Grammar School venue? If yes:

• 2 spectator parents/guardians per player at our outdoor venues.
• 2 spectator parent/guardian per player at our indoor venues.
• QR code registration will be in place across all facilities at entry points, with standard health checks and questions.
• Players in all teams should turn up ready to play - no change rooms will be available.
• 'Cashless' Canteens will be open at Curagul and Gillespie.
• Players should bring their own labelled water bottles and snacks, if required.
• Players should leave immediately after completion of their fixture.
• Teams due to play in the Great Hall and Lawson Centre or on MacNeil courts will need to wait on Boulevard until they may enter the facility. This will depend on finish time of previous fixture.
• Standard 1.5m social distancing for all spectators.

ANZAC Service and Parade

We are pleased to announce that the Knox ANZAC Service and Parade will go ahead on Sunday 2 May 2021 at 8.30am with some modifications and restrictions. All students in the Cadet Unit are expected to attend this event.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, we will be limiting spectators to two tickets per Year 11 and 12 Cadets, Pipes and Drums, Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Gallery Choir students only. We will continue to monitor government advice and recommendations, and should more tickets become available, we will update parents. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

The service and parade will be live streamed here: www.knox.nsw.edu.au/anzac.

If you have any questions, please email events@knox.nsw.edu.au.

Senior School Tuckshops - Volunteers Required

We are so excited to be able to welcome parent volunteers back on campus to assist in the Tuckshops this term. The return of volunteers is subject to continued stabilisation of local and state health requirements regarding COVID-19.

We greatly appreciate our volunteers and their contributions to our School community.

Helping out in the tuckshop is very rewarding experience and a great way to meet and socialise with new friends. If you are able to volunteer in one of the Senior School Tuckshops, please click on the following link here.
