Knox is a school that focuses on the academic, physical, social and spiritual lives of young men through our Total Fitness educational model. The model is age-specific and accounts for the different and complex worlds of the Prep School boy and the young man preparing for university.

Our educational model is strongly aligned to our values, focussing on educating the boys about how to become a good man. This is one of the reasons I am so proud of Knox. I love our clarity of purpose. We know who we are; we know where we are going. Our primary purpose is to build “fine young men”- to assist young men to become the very best human being they are capable of becoming – a person of character who will shape a positive future for themselves and the wider community.

As a way of example, the service learning program encourages young men to work within the wider community to assist others. Many of the programs are conducted with neighbouring girls' schools, giving boys the opportunity to interact in a respectful and supportive way. I continually see young men stepping up and taking on leadership roles, often heading community service programs or serving as mentors to younger students. Service learning programs, combined with the experiences of performing in the orchestra, playing on the Football team, attending worship or performing in a musical, affords lessons in faith, wisdom, integrity, compassion and courage.

Above all else, Knox Total Fitness is a relationship-based education model that not only enhances the learning process, but it also contributes to a boy’s growing sense of belonging and connection to his school. This connection of “brotherhood” extends to a broader community called the OKGA (Old Knox Grammarians' Association) – alumni who stand ready to positively support our young men now and in the future.

Many, many years ago, as a small child, time seemed to pass by so slowly. Days seemed longer, weeks too; and school terms took forever to pass by. As we get older, time seems to literally fly by; weeks disappear in the blink of an eye; and school terms all just roll into one another. Each year, it feels like the space in time between late January and early December becomes narrower. There is no question that school life is significantly busier now than ever before. Our days are filled to the brim with learning inside and outside the classroom, both academic and social, with plenty of physical for good measure, and a healthy dose of spiritual in an attempt to keep us all balanced and healthy.

The challenge for us all is to avoid overcrowding our children’s days, to allow time for reflection, for contemplation, and for relaxation. As we are getting closer to the holiday period, many parents will be thinking about how to fill their sons’ days and weeks with play dates, activities, perhaps busy travel plans, and for some additional out of school lessons at any number of coaching colleges that unfortunately exist in abundance now.

I say that it is a challenge for us all because whilst we work hard at school to provide your sons with a balanced but busy week during term time, we seek your help in doing likewise during the holiday period. Your sons work incredibly hard here each day, working and playing (yes play is work for children!) and learning the life skills that they will need to thrive in a world that is ever evolving. Over the next couple of weeks, we will offer you some suggestions for things that you might consider doing with your sons over the break. For those tempted to enrol in additional hours of out of school academic coaching, my advice is to please not do so. Your sons need down time. They need time to play. Time to do nothing – yes, nothing! Boredom, through unstructured time, is the vehicle through which innovative ideas come to the surface. We frequently hear from boys whose lives are so heavily structured and they know what they’re missing out on. Increased anxiety and stress impacts even the smallest members of our community, who deeply feel the pressure being placed on them to perform in one aspect of life, over others. As parents, it takes courage to trust the school. However, the rewards for your son in your doing just that will be long lasting. Additional hours spent at coaching colleges does little more than create performers who can recite formulas and complete algorithms, yet with minimal understanding of why they’re doing what they’re doing, and an inability to apply these rote learned skills to problem solving tasks. There is no race to the finish of primary school!

This year, Year 3 and 5 students will complete NAPLAN testing online. As part of the process of testing the system, and familiarising the boys with it, all boys will complete an online practice assessment on Thursday 25 March at 8:30am.

The practice test will allow us to ensure that all systems are in place prior to the actual NAPLAN testing program, which is scheduled during May. Year 3 and 5 will complete a 45-minute omnibus test which will consist of a combination of reading, spelling, punctuation, grammar and numeracy questions. Year 5 students will also complete a writing practice test.

Completing the practice test will give students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the format and presentation of questions in the online test environment.

Students do not need to complete any academic preparation for this practice test. As this practice test is not an assessment of student ability, there will be no reporting of student results.

Students will complete the test on their School issued iPad, and are asked to bring the following equipment to School for the practice test:

        ·         A set of headphones

        ·         Pencils

Please ensure that headphones are at School by no later than Monday 22 March. Headphones can be the in-ear or over-ear type as long as they use the standard 3.5mm headphone plug. We do not recommend wireless headphones as they may not be compatible with our devices.

Should you have any questions about the NAPLAN practice test, please contact me.

        K-2 Happenings

        K-2 Happenings

So much has been happening in K-2 this week with excursions and other activities engaging our boys in their learning. I would like to take this opportunity to commend the boys on their behaviour and their effort in promoting the Knox School Values each and every day. Last week in assembly our Year 6 Burns House leaders spoke to the boys about curiosity. This lifelong skill is one that K-2 boys can learn and develop as they progress through their years at Knox. It is vitally important that we foster and encourage curiosity both at home and in the classroom. Encourage your son to ask questions of the world around him and to be courageous and inquisitive. A boy’s passions can shape his future and it is important that we continue to lead by example in how to be curious and interested in what is going on around us.

Last week in assembly we had our first House Points winner for the term. Congratulations to Fuller House! In K-2 we are using Colour House points as well as Knox Values Stickers to reward the boys for their outstanding behaviour on the playground and in the classroom. The House based system is cultivating a sense of community across K-2 with our boys connecting across the grade groups to work towards a common goal. Each fortnight we will have a winning House and then at the end of Term 2 the overall winning house will have a special afternoon of fun. We are looking forward to seeing the boys develop the sense of camaraderie across their house as this competition continues over the next term!

As we approach the end of the term it is important to remember that our boys get tired and are in need of a break! We strongly encourage you to keep afternoons relatively free for your sons and provide them with opportunities to have some down time. This might include activities such as play dates, riding their bike, going to the park or simply reading a book at home. There is no doubt that boys who are well rested are more effective as learners in the classroom. Find out what it is that your son likes to do in their downtime and find some time each week for this activity.

I will be on leave over the next few weeks as I recover from surgery, I will still be 'online' so to speak until March 25th so if you need anything please do be in touch. I am looking forward to seeing you all back at the gate soon.

The boys have loved exploring the big idea ‘Families are the same and different’ over the past 7 weeks. Last week they starter to inquire into the similarities between their family and their favourite animal. Many of the boys made connections between the roles of the mother and father and their own. As a group we researched to explore animals we weren’t as familiar with. The boys are beginning to use pictures and books to research their ideas. We are encouraging them all to ask questions about the world instead of making statements.

        Premier's Reading Challenge
All the information on the PRC is in the K-2 Literacy Centre and 3-6 Library section of the Prep Magpie. We are looking forward to celebrating your sons’ reading.

        We caught you!
Congratulations Kindergarten team! We have been working on keeping our hands to ourselves and using our words to communicate with others. We have caught many of the Kindergarten team being kind to their peers and we are so proud. Please continue to speak to your son about how to communicate with his peers using his words.

        Birthday Treats
We appreciate that it is important to celebrate your son’s special day, but please refrain from sending gifts for each boy in the class. A small, individualised, packaged treat for each class member is more than enough to celebrate your son’s special day. Thank you for your support and understanding.

We have been so busy in Year 1 this last week and the boys have been having lots of fun preparing their ‘Celebrations’ presentations. We are so proud of the effort each boy has put into this task. They have demonstrated that even as young learners they can work independently, make decisions for themselves, find out information and change their thinking.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is fast approaching, and we are so excited to be a part of this in Year 1. All Year 1 boys will be participating in and completing the PRC this year. This is an amazing opportunity for students to widen their reading experience whilst working towards achieving a reading goal. Please make sure you read the Library section of this week’s Magpie for information regarding the PRC.

We are looking forward to our swimming lessons again in Week 10. If you have not already done so we would appreciate you to purchasing the school poncho from the Knox Uniform Shop for your son to wear. This will enable each boy to dry himself and change with privacy. We also ask that over the next couple of weeks the boys practise getting dressed and changing by themselves. This includes putting on his underwear, pulling up his shorts and putting his shirt on over his head. We also ask you to spend some time practising putting on shoes and socks and tying shoelaces. These are all skills which help establish independence in our boys. It is also an opportune time to make sure all items of clothing (including towels, goggles and swimmers) are clearly labelled with your son’s name.

Year 2 boys are excitedly designing their own ‘Classroom of the Future’ in the culminating task of our Stories of the World and Its People inquiry. The connections made by students in understanding how the past has shaped our present is on full display as they think critically and use their imagination to predict how our present will shape the future. The objects and technology that has been transformed using CoSpaces with the purpose of assisting future generations of Knox boys is phenomenal and the Year Two teachers have been blown away by the boys’ ideas.

A reminder that Year 2 will be travelling to Narrabeen Coastal Centre next Thursday to explore wet and dry habitats and delve into the big idea that ‘Ecosystems are everywhere!’ If you haven’t already done so, could you please accept the terms and conditions of the permission form for your son to leave the Prep campus via the Parent Portal.

Year 2 are very excited about recommencing our swimming lessons in Week 10. House Cross Country Carnival
Another first for our Year 3 boys was ticked off the list last Thursday, as they participated in the House Cross Country Carnival. Despite the red cheeks and breathless expressions, an exceptional effort and display of pure determination were demonstrated by all boys. It was wonderful to see examples of empathy and encouragement from fellow runners to assist their friends who needed a helping hand to reach the finish line. The camaraderie and endless cheering from boys in each house as well as support from parents were also greatly appreciated. Congratulations, to Charlie Lakeman who was Runner-up in the U9/10 Cross Country race and Haslett House who were the victorious house for Years 3 and 4 at the end of the day.

        Premier’s Reading Challenge
The 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge commences this week with a challenge for Year 3 to read 20 books. The aim is to instil in our boys a love of reading and to experience the various range of quality literature. It is not to be viewed as a competition but rather an opportunity to highlight reading as an enjoyable and relaxing leisure activity. It is a great time for families to read together, discuss their favourite authors and books as well as for parents to listen to their child read out aloud. We have no doubt our boys will accept and relish this challenge. Please click on the link to access the PRC Year 3-4 booklist. Also, visit the library section of the Prep Magpie for more information

        Year 3 Camp: Point Wolstoncroft
After much anticipation and discussion, Year 3 depart this Thursday for two fun-filled days at Point Wolstoncroft. If you haven’t already, we ask that you allow your son to sleep in a sleeping bag on his bed, and ensure that he is able to independently roll it up and place inside the carry bag. As the boys will spend much time outside participating in various activities and experiencing all the great outdoors has to offer, we once again ask parents to ensure that all clothing and any accessories (hats, sun cream etc.) are clearly labelled.

        Going Home Arrangements
To assist with the going home arrangements for your son on Friday 19 March 2021, please click here to advise the school of your son’s going home arrangements following their arrival back at the Prep School from Camp.

        Medication Form
If your son requires medication whilst at camp, please complete the form attached above detailing the name of the medication and the amount, time and frequency of the dosage. All medication must be in the original packaging, clearly labelled with your son’s name and put in a zip lock bag to be given to your son’s class teacher when you drop your son to school on the morning of Thursday 18 March 2021.

        Winter Sports
This week Year 3 transition from their summer to winter sport.  In preparation for the upcoming trials and trainings, we would ask parents to ensure boys have all the necessary protective gear and are aware of how they are getting home. All details including trials, training days and fixtures will be posted on the Knox app.

        Knoxigations
As we progress into the Going Further phase of the inquiry cycle, the boys have begun researching their explorer, ready to create a virtual expedition showcasing the explorer’s journey. Last week, Mr Fairhurst introduced the task to all the Year 4 students, who responded with passion and excitement. The boys have been encouraged to think about their writer’s voice when composing the written component of the inquiry, with a focus on displaying their personality to truly engage the reader. A number of scaffolds have been put into place such as planning tools, templates and graphic organisers to support the inquiry. There may be times where the boys have to conduct extra research at home, so we appreciate your support and flexibility with this. Who your son is inquiring about may provide a great stimulus for dinner conversation. We are excited to see what the boys can produce.

        Khan Mappers
In Year 4 Khan Mappers is being set as part of the homework rotation. The activities on Khan Mappers are tailored to the next steps of learning for your son. He should be spending his time focusing on his areas of greatest need. Often these tasks will be revising concepts already taught in the classroom, but at other times they may be introducing new concepts to him. In these instances, we encourage the boys to have a go. The tasks are generally accompanied by instructional videos. These exercises allow the boys to build some background understanding so that when we begin these units in the classroom, they have some understanding. The Year 4 team encourages boys who have ongoing difficulties with activities to speak with their Mathematics teacher.

        House Cross Country Carnival
The House Cross Country Carnival is a day that brings energy, excitement and enthusiasm, and last Thursday exemplified this. The willingness to have a go of the Year 4 boys was incredible and something they should all be proud of. In Year 4 we were lucky enough to have two students who won their respective events.

8/9 Boys – Caelan Drysdale (Ewan) – in a nail-biting finish. Caelan was even all race, finally pulling ahead in the last five metres!

        10 Boys – Will Scodellaro

Great effort to all the boys involved – what a great event!

        Year 4 Storytelling Performance
        Costumes and Props
Next week, Year 4 students will be performing as their storytelling characters in Drama. As many of you may have observed, the students have been rehearsing their portions of script, trying to use movement, space as well as vocal and physical expression to create an engaging character performance.
I let the students know that they can bring in appropriate costumes and props to help them become old sailor characters and make their performance more compelling.

If your son would like to bring items in:

        •       Please do not purchase anything - try to use items from around the home

        •       Items should not be precious – just in case your son loses or damages them

        •       Students should not bring in any weapons – pretend or real

        •       Have a look for everyday clothing items you might have – combining them can give an easy sailor/pirate-like look

        •       Items should be stored in your son’s classroom locker until needed

        •       Students must turn up in their school uniform, but will be able to quickly change before performing

        •       Your son should rehearse at home wearing his costume – it might not fit!

        Writing Persuasively
The continued rise of social media and the targeted sharing of misinformation (‘fake news’) has an enormous impact on public attitudes and responses to events. People’s perceptions and worldviews can quickly change after reading a single article online. It’s therefore so important that we equip our boys with the skills to be both critical and discerning about information they read or hear about. They are influenced through advertising, the media and their peers on a daily basis.

Through persuasive writing lessons, our boys have been learning about various techniques used both directly and indirectly to persuade. They have been encouraged to appeal to a reader’s sense of logic (logos), ethics (ethos) and emotion (pathos) through undeniable statistics and facts, an appeal to what is right and through the use of emotive scenes and language.

We will continue our in-depth study of persuasive texts, culminating in a short speech on why the boys’ city design in Knoxigations makes it the most liveable city. The boys will begin preparing for this as a part of their homework.

Success is Born with Bold and Brave Ideas
An exciting addition to Year 5 this year is the ‘Ethical Entrepreneurialism’ program. This program, coordinated by Miss Feltham, will see our boys develop their skills in empathy, co-creative teamwork, leadership and problem finding and solving.

This term, the boys have been busy unpacking some of the 24 character strengths and explaining why a variety of character strengths is essential to working effectively as part of a team.

Whilst our boys self-reflect on their character strengths and don’t do the online survey, you may like to understand these character strengths more by completing the free online survey here.

We look forward to involving members of our parent community within this program in the future.

        The Importance of Sleep
There’s no denying the amount of research available about the importance and benefits of sleep. We know that sleep is important for one’s health as well as mental alertness, and young people need adequate sleep in order to be able to learn well. Good-quality sleep helps:

        -          learning, concentration and memory

        -          emotional wellbeing

        -          positive behaviour and decision making

        -          increase energy levels

        -          promote healthy growth and the immune system

At the Parent Information Evening in February, we discussed the importance of this for our boys. For children aged 11-12yrs, the recommended amount of uninterrupted sleep each night is 9-11 hours. With the busy schedules that many of our boys keep, time management is crucial to ensuring they meet their commitments AND get enough sleep each night. Over the past few weeks, the Year 6 Team have noticed an increase in the number of students online and doing homework late in the evening – between 9:30-11pm. As such, we ask that you check in with your son and support them to manage their time.

To work well in partnership for the wellbeing of the boys and the learning that takes place at school, we ask for your support with our expectations:

        -          boys should not be on devices or completing academic work after 8:30pm

        -          all technology should be removed from the boys’ rooms overnight

        -          boys should be doing 60 minutes or more of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day

        Year 6 Musical
The musical is in full swing! Throughout the term, the boys have been working hard in their Music lessons to learn the repertoire ahead of the performances in Week 10. Excitingly, each class spent time last week in the recording studios in the Senior School and they have also begun to learn their choreography. It has been pleasing to witness the commitment from the boys who have been rehearsing regularly at lunch to learn their lines and practise singing. Mr George has been working very hard behind the scenes preparing for what should be some incredible performances.

        Year 6 Yearbook 2021
Thank you to those parents/carers who have already started uploading photos for their son’s Yearbook half page biography.

Please use this link to submit photos for your son’s bio. Each boy will need a selection of 3–5 photos.

Photos of your son should be in his Knox school/sport uniform or other eg musical costume.
Tips/examples for planning your son’s photo selection:

          • First day of school photo outside the school gates.
          • Kindy photos.
          • Sporting photos.
          • Band photos / playing musical instrument.
          • Receiving special awards.
          • Participating in school events – eg Musical, book parade, debating, favourite school activity.
          • Sibling photos in school uniform.
          • Camp photos with friends.
          • Saturday sport action photo.

Please make sure you plan ahead. If you don’t have any photos you could gather a group of friends together outside the school gate or take a photo during Saturday sport.
Don’t forget to include your son in selecting his photos, this is 'his' keepsake to enjoy and look back upon.

A special thank you to the wonderful teachers and school staff for helping to capture our sons in action at school activities and events this year.

A sticker will be placed in your son’s school diary during their Literacy Centre or Library lessons.

Students must read a set number of books to complete the challenge. Reading records must be entered online.

Please click here for the online instructions.

Click here for the Challenge Rules.

Click here for a useful help video demonstrating how the site works.

Students who have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge in previous years at another school will have their reading records merged, to ensure their PRC history remains intact. Please email this information to Mrs Wheatley.

Congratulations to Jared Nipatcharoen and Oscar Thomas, both in Year 10, who received a medal from the Premier of NSW, Gladys Berejiklian. To be eligible for a medal, both boys completed the PRC challenge in Year 3 to Year 9 (inclusive). What a wonderful achievement!

        Accelerated Reading Programme Years 3-6
All boys in Years 3-6 have been shown how to use our online Library database, Infiniti, to search for books in our Library collection that are within their ZPD range.

Access to our Prep Library Page is available for the students only as they are patrons of our Library. Our Library page is a google site. Your son will need to log in using their Knox email address and password. Please ensure that all google accounts have been signed out before logging on. To access Infiniti at home, go to bit.ly/knoxpreplibrary

Boys can search for books at home that are also within their ZPD range using the AR Bookfinder. Quizzes will be completed during class time.

        House Cross Country Carnival
The cheers and screams of the boys kept the inclement weather at bay during this year’s House Cross Country Carnival. The overcast day and moderate temperatures made for excellent conditions for running. The new 2km and 3km track was negotiated with precision by the boys.

Throughout the day, not only did we see some remarkable running and results, but we also saw some wonderful acts of courage, kindness and support. In every race, boys were observed helping and encouraging one another whether they were running or walking and beyond the finish line it was wonderful to see the boys congratulating one another on their efforts regardless of their place.

In the end, there was to be one winning house, and this year it was by the closest margin on record. Burns house managed to hold off Haslett by 0.2 of a point to take out this year’s House Cross Country Carnival. Well done, Burns. A superb achievement

The following boys were crowned Year Champions of this year’s Cross Country Carnival:

        8/9 Years
        1st – Caelan Drysdale
        2nd – Charlie Lakeman
        3rd – William Wang

        10 Years
        1st – William Scodellaro
        2nd – Jack Murphy
        3rd – Rishi Manani

        11 Years
        1st – Jack Bayliss
        2nd – Cade Petrie
        3rd – Davin Yap

        12/13 Years
        1st – Owen Dixon
        2nd – Thomas Scodellaro
        3rd – Hamish Duggan

        IPSHA Football Trials

Winter sport trials - Saturday 20 March
The Winter Sport Trials will be held this coming weekend on Saturday 20 March. The boys will also be taking part in trials during Week 8, 9 and 10 in preparation for the beginning of the winter season in Week 1 of Term 2.

Please be aware that these are only provisional and may change throughout the season. Please check the weekly fixtures list on the Knox app for any changes which will be indicated in red font.

        School Holiday Knox Sport Camps
In the coming holidays, Knox will be hosting a Football camp and a Rugby camp.
The Football camp will take place in the first week of the holidays from Tuesday 6 April – Thursday 8 April, 9am – 1pm.
The Rugby camp will take place in the second week of the holidays from Wednesday 14 April – Friday 16 April, 9am – 12 noon.
Flyers will be posted on both the Knox app and in the Magpie.

        ‘Around the Grounds’ Round 5
A super round of sport occurred on the weekend. In basketball, Knox won 10 out of the 12 games played against St Pius X, with our 1st and 2nd team clocking up wins after having been beaten by St Pius X in round 2 of this year’s competition.

In cricket, our 1sts and 2nds also won against a fierce competitor in that of St Ignatius Riverview. This has set our 1st XI cricket team as undefeated at the halfway point of the summer season. Congratulations, and keep up the super performances.

In tennis, our 1sts unfortunately came unstuck from their undefeated status against a very strong Grammar St Ives team. However, our 2nds notched up another win which has also placed them undefeated at the halfway point of the summer season.

In touch football, our A Black team came away with a draw against Waverley who are one of the front runners in the competition. This keeps our A Black team undefeated so far this season. And our continually improving A Blue team had a convincing win against St Aloysius 8 tries to 1. A super effort boys.

Round 1 of our Winter Season will commence on the first weekend back from our school holiday break on Saturday 24 April.

        Paul Kelly Cup
On Tuesday 9 March, 23 boys ventured to Castle Hill Showgrounds for the Paul Kelly Cup. After missing out in 2020, the Knox boys were hungry for the contest and did not disappoint. Not only did we experience success on the day, but we saw great sportsmanship. A number of adults from other schools noted how positive our boys were towards other teams and umpires, and I commend the boys for the way they represented Knox.

        Knox Team B
Team B had a tough draw and were up against stiff competition all day in the very warm conditions. To their credit, every single player fought hard in each match, with regular glimpses of brilliance and some encouraging passages of play. The boys were beaten comfortably in the first game despite valiant efforts from Jamie Soutter and Xavier Pica. The second round was certainly a much closer affair; the boys got within a goal of a win, with Thomas Garnier and Ollie Oldfield gaining confidence and stepping up their game. There was some controversy over a late goal decision, but the boys took the result like young men and moved their focus to the final round. A brilliant team effort saw the hard work pay off for our boys, getting over the line by 3 goals. The Knox coaches award for the day went to Jamie Soutter who battled hard with a brilliant attitude all day.

        Knox Team A
Our first hit-out for Team A was against the boys from John Purchase. The boys showed their class and experience, kicking almost a goal a minute and keeping their opponent scoreless. Tom Schubert, Daniel Couper and Josh Donovan were impressive in both winning the ball and using it effectively. Knox 15.7.97 def. John Purchase 0.0.0.

Round 2 saw us take on St Agatha’s 2nd team. Again, our boys showed their ability to work together as an organised unit to score heavily, with Jem Fairfax and Will Cassar dominating their opponents. Knox 10.2.62 def. St Agatha’s 2nd team 0.0.0.

In round 3 we were again dominant, but Thornleigh West 2nd team managed to sneak past our defence and score a goal. Jacob Mannering was exciting with his speed and agility in another convincing win. Knox 15.5.95 def. Thornleigh West 2nd team 1.0.6.

After the opening rounds, all our players had made an impact and played all positions, which was very pleasing. Almost every player had scored a goal in the first 3 rounds, showing that our players were being unselfish and getting their teammates involved.

Semi-final 1 saw Knox take on St Bernadette’s 1st team. With a much stronger opponent, there was more pressure and a few hairy moments, but the team steadied as the match went on to notch up another memorable win. Knox 7.4.46 def. St Bernadette’s 1st team 0.1.1.

Our most challenging opponent for the day awaited us in the final match: St Agatha’s 1st team. The first ten minutes was a real arm wrestle, with Jesse Marinas and Cooper Rundell scoring the only 2 goals for the half. Again, our boys proved too strong across the board for their opponents, with some great team plays and individual efforts getting us across the line to win the day. Knox 4.2.26 def. St Agatha’s 1st team 0.2.2.

Will Cassar, Tom Schubert and Josh Donovan all stood tall again and played well in both finals matches, with Will being awarded the BOG for the decider. Our Team A boys now move on to the next stage of the Paul Kelly Cup; the Regional finals.

I would like to commend all 23 boys for not only their outstanding on-field efforts, but also for the way they carried themselves off the field. It was certainly a proud day to be a Knox coach. Well done boys!

        Band News
Wow our Bands are buzzing and beginning to sound amazing! Boys have been diligent in remembering to practise and come to rehearsals (especially the lunch time rehearsals) so well done to everyone on your attendance so far this term! Last week both of our Prep Rock Bands performed at the Ride with Richter event. Even though both rock bands have only had three weeks of rehearsals, they both wowed the audience with their renditions of ‘Seven Nation Army’, ‘TNT’ and ‘Are you Gonna Go My Way’ by Lenny Kravitz. Their enthusiasm and polished performances definitely set the vibe for the events and the students loved cheering and singing along!
If your son cannot make a rehearsal for any reason, please remember to email the director to inform them of their absence.

        Letters of Gratitude
Frontline and quarantine workers have done so much for us. During the Coronavirus pandemic, they have been brave and have put themselves at risk for the good of everybody. Write to the Heroes is an initiative to show our appreciation and lift the spirits of frontline and quarantine workers through thank you letters. Boys from K-6 will be writing these letters of gratitude in the coming weeks.
