Headmaster's Column
Mr Scott James
Our students are often challenged to appreciate their responsibility to the local and global community. We do this by offering a range of co-curricular experiences which push them out of their comfort zones, to learn more of themselves and the world. Undoubtedly, one of the important lessons is to show students what a great gift it is to spend time working with and serving people who are on the margins of society.

Male Voice Power at St. Lucy’s School
On Friday 18 October, Male Voice Power (MVP) visited St. Lucy's School to perform as part of their "Artist Is Me" Creative Arts Festival. This day is held in the memory of two students who passed away three years ago, to celebrate and honour their love of the arts.
The boys performed two smaller mini concerts, to give the St. Lucy's students a more intimate experience. MVP featured a broad range of their repertoire, including George Ezra's "Shotgun" and the choir's version of The Axis of Awesome's "Four Chords Song".
Kokoda Trek
Lenore Kennedy, PDHPE Teacher
During the September/October school holidays, 20 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 along with 3 staff members (Mr Ben Bryan, Ms Elizabeth Ruff and Mr Kieran Donohue) made the pilgrimage to Papua New Guinea to follow in the footsteps of Australian Diggers during WWII.
The group had spent 6 months physically preparing for the trip which held them in good stead as they progressed ahead of schedule along the track. This afforded the group more opportunities to immerse themselves in villages along the track, to get to know the locals (including their porters) and take in the breathtaking views of untouched jungle.

‘If you want children to keep their feet on the ground, put some responsibility on their shoulders.’ Abigail Buren.
There are many benefits to having children help around the home. Giving children chores can make them feel wanted, teach important life skills, and help ease the workload for parents. Recent studies have found that giving children chores from an early age will help teach them work ethic, responsibility, self-reliance, teamwork, reinforce respect and time management skills and provide a chance for families to bond. Click on this link for the ultimate list of chores for children from ages two to eighteen.

Thank you
On Thursday, Yasmin Narielvala visited Knox Grammar to speak to the boys about her experience at the Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice. We learned about the impact of racial segregation in the United States. Following this talk, the boys have come up with some deep wonderings which they will explore in more detail during Knoxigations. We really appreciated Yasmin taking the time to come and speak to us as we have learnt so much from listening to her experience.

Sports News
From the Head of Knox Sports and Aquatic Academy
Mr Martin Haywood
There was so much to be proud of as many of our boys completed their pre-season on Saturday. We are well prepared for the next 5 weeks of summer competition. Some teams are already into their respective seasons with our Baseball squad recording their first win of the season and our 1st XI Cricketers played out a draw in their first competition game of the season. Some more details and a report for each sport can be found on the School app. In brief, some of the highlights included -
Basketball
Many teams played Scots in the final trial and the results were fantastic whilst a number of the Open squads played some 3 on 3 and had a blast here at Knox. One fixture to keep an eye out for is a Friday night game here at the school on Friday 22 November against Barker. More information will follow and we are keen to have a huge crowd and get behind the team.
