Year 12 Team 2024

Welcome back for the start of the final term of our boys’ time as students at Knox. We are sure many of you have been wondering how the years passed by so quickly!
We hope that the boys were constructive during the break and also gave themselves some opportunities to recharge and re-energise. The term is a demanding one with many ‘lasts’ for the boys, with academic challenges and reflection, and with some excellent opportunities for celebration of their journey. Being well rested and refreshed will be of enormous benefit.

Senior Academy Team 2024

Most of the cohort have returned to school with a sense of purpose and a desire to build on what they have done over the previous three terms. We will speak to the cohort during Year Meeting next Monday about a range of strategies they can use to ensure they are effective in their academic studies. With their Trial HSC Examinations commencing in Week 5 on Monday 19 August, a focus must be placed upon ensuring an effective study plan is devised using the examination timetable. Using a weekly study plan and studying effectively and efficiently is a crucial foundation in assisting them achieve their personal best. The Senior Academy team and mentors have provided different approaches to developing a study plan to find what best works for each student. If your son needs help with planning towards the Trial Examinations, please ask him to approach his academic mentor, pastoral mentor or a member of the Senior Academy team.
The week before the Trial Examinations, there are two study days on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 August. The boys will be able to study at school during the study days and the Trial HSC block in Seniors’ Hall during the day dressed in smart casuals. The timetable can be found on the portal.

Chaplaincy Team 2024

Welcome to Term 3. I hope you were able to keep warm over the winter holidays.
The beginning of any new thing signals change, and change can often bring with it its fair share of concern and anxiety. One cannot help but wonder about the unknown and unexpected.
While we are well into the school year, we may be encountering change on a personal level. This verse from Isaiah reminds us that God is with us through all life’s changes. It is a comfort knowing that God is able to hold all things – and that I am strengthened to encounter the challenge that is before me.
God bless.

Text of the Week
Do not fear, for I am with you,
do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

NAIDOC Week Assembly
Our First Nations boys shared their culture with us at the whole of school Assembly to mark NAIDOC Week. We learnt of interesting cultural facts from Billy Lloyd, Harry Tanner, Charlie Kellahan, and Henry Anderson. William Humes also shared with us his own personal heritage which was fascinating.
