Year 11 Team 2024
It’s hard to believe that our boys only have eight weeks left of Year 11.
The Stage 6 Team would like to remind Year 11 boys who haven’t purchased their social tickets to do so as soon as possible. The Year 11 students at PLC have shared a video with our year group that was watched during this week’s Year Meeting, challenging the boys to beat them at laser tag. In response to this, a selection of our boys created a video on Wednesday afternoon to show PLC students that the Year 11 boys are up to the challenge. Who will win? We would like to think that our boys have it in the bag! Additionally, during Year Meeting on Wednesday, the boys were provided with information in connection to their upcoming examination block. Further information will be shared with the boys in the coming weeks about what their examination block will look like; the expectations in terms of accessing the WSA Hall and Library to study, the IMA process and a few details. We implore our boys to stay on top of their emails in the coming weeks and to ensure that they focus during our Year Meetings.

Senior Academy Team 2024

We continue to be impressed by the focus the boys are displaying towards their learning. The four pillars of Knox Total Fitness are crucial in ensuring the boys are able to maintain their drive as they approach the final Year 11 Examinations and beyond with their HSC year commencing in Term 4.
With their examinations commencing in Week 7 (and STUVAC on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August), a focus must be placed upon ensuring an effective study plan is devised. Using a weekly study plan that implements effective and efficient study is a crucial foundation to assisting them achieve their potential. The boys will have access to instruction and guidance in these areas during Mentor over the coming weeks.
The boys have received the Year 11 Final Examinations timetable link via email last week and it is also on the portal. Mr Gliddon and Euan Choi (Y12) from the Academic Portfolio team, encouraged the boys this week in Year Meeting to include their Yearly Exams into their study planner and start backward mapping to see how much time is available to prepare for each subject.

Well done on another strong term of Chess in the NSWJCL competition. The Senior A and Junior A team went through without dropping a point which is a super achievement. Special mention to the Junior B team who just missed out on the quarter finals by one point in a tightly contested game against a strong Marist Eastwood A team. This week, all three games will be at home against Central Coast Grammar today (Friday 2 August). Junior and Intermediate games will aim to start at 3.30pm.

Sport Newsletter Week 2, Term 3 2024
I hope everyone is enjoying the opportunity to watch some Olympics this week. There have been so many inspirational performances so far from our Australian athletes and I hope this serves as motivation for all youngsters out there to reach for the clouds and dream big. When you hear some of their personal stories, it really shows that absolutely anything can be achieved with the right attitude and support around the athlete.
William Yang (OKG16) was superb in the pool in the 100m freestyle and reached the semi finals whilst coming up in Week 2, we have a Knox representative on the track with Cameron McEntyre (OKG16) throwing the javelin. Good luck, Cam.

Chaplaincy Team 2024

I love to ask children about prayer, and to hear them say “God answers prayer.” It’s a simple statement, but a profound truth. As we bring our prayers to God, we know that he is attentive and waiting to hear our prayers. Whether in times of joy, or times of challenge, God listens to our prayers with grace and understanding. He is attentive and ready to respond to our needs. .
In prayer, how wonderful it is to be able to listen and talk to our wonderful and glorious God, knowing his words and actions bring life and sustain us in all that we do. We are sometimes called to be patient, or perhaps we feel our prayers and requests aren’t hitting the mark, but we can be assured that God’s power and love are at work in us, every step of the way.

Year 12 BBQ Convenors Required
We are looking for two parents willing to take on the Year 12 BBQ Convenor role, commencing in Term 4. The Year 12 BBQ is held each Wednesday for Year 12 students only, in order to raise funds to subsidise decorations for the Valedictory Dinner.
The convenor role is a weekly commitment (each Wednesday from 11.30am-2pm). The current convenors are happy to meet with the new convenors to discuss what all is involved. The main role of the convenors is to manage the weekly roster of parent volunteers, purchasing drinks and sauces, ordering the food each week through the kitchen, assembling and selling the burgers or hotdogs on the day. No cooking is involved, as the School’s caterers do all the cooking.
It would be great to have two convenors to share the load. If you are interested, please contact Megan Bailey, Head of Community Relations, Events and Communications.
