Head of Boarding

As we come to the end of Term 2, it is nice to reflect on the many outstanding celebrations that we have shared together as a school and as a Boarding community. Who can forget the amazing "Jersey Boys" Musical, which was an outstanding production, the ANZAC Day Service and Parade that showcased our wonderful traditions and respect for our fallen, the hugely successful Centenary Military Tattoo celebration with over 800 performers taking part at Quay Centre, Sydney Olympic Park. The boys enjoyed the Careers Night, socials at St Catherine’s and Ravenswood as well as hosting our own annual Knox Senior Social, with 8 girls boarding schools in attendance, all getting into the theme of the night dressing up in their chosen Iconic Duos or Groups.
Head of Stage 6 Boarding

What a wonderful Term 2 we have had in boarding. We always squeeze so much into Term 2 and I commend all boys on the way they have carried themselves throughout the term. It is only a short term, but I have been impressed with the way in which our boarders have been so heavily involved in many aspects of school life. The kind and caring community we are building in Stage 6 continues to grow, and it is pleasing to see all our residential staff and families settling in nicely to the mix.
Head of Stage 5 Boarding

As predicted, Term 2 has rocketed past and been action packed for the boys of Stage 5 boarding. The inclement weather that washed out Gala Day and Back to Country Day was disappointing, but didn’t dampen the boy’s enthusiasm for the start of the term and especially the start of the winter sports season. Both the Gala Day and Back to Country have been postponed to the Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September, so we look forward to an early Spring festival weekend of all things Knox. The Back to Country Day is especially important to our boarding community as we celebrate the different cultures and rich tapestry that make up this wonderful group of boys and families, so we look forward to embracing this special day in a few weeks’ time.
Head of Stage 4 Boarding

There have been many triumphs over the course of Term 2, with our junior boarders now fully settled in. Boys in Gilmore House are being kept busy, and I am proud to report on their healthy and productive routines over this first semester. Junior boarders enjoyed a raft of activities with the School’s Centenary providing a full and eventful calendar. Some examples of what the boys took part in include the Athletics Carnival, whole of school photos, Friday night under lights sporting fixtures, and rugby on Knox 1.
School Chaplain

This term, Rev Ace Kim from One Heart Uniting Church preached at Boarders’ Chapel and was a guest at our Boarders’ dinner. Rev Ace arrived in Australia as an international student at 15 years of age leaving family in South Korea. He remembers attending English Language School for 6 months before enrolling at Pacific Hills Christian School. He spoke about the wonderful people who cared for him and the importance of community away from home. He emphasised the importance of unity in community – just as our trinitarian Christian God is three persons in one: God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
We are thankful for all our boys, for the families they have come from - both here in Australia and overseas - as well as the new extended ‘family’ that is forged here at Knox. May God guide all staff and their supporters as we seek to strengthen this community through acts of kindness, service and learning.
Blessings to all for the holidays. May the days of rest and renewal feel long.
Rev Dr Rosalie Clarke MacLarty
Director of Academic Excellence - Boarding

Term 2 has been a short but busy term. I am proud of how the boys have applied themselves throughout the term, to both their studies and their co-curricular activities. I am glad to see an increased number of boarders engaging with the range of academic support on offer throughout the School this term.
Director of Culture and Engagement - Boarding

This term we have been boosted with the enthusiasm of the new boarding leaders and enjoyed some exciting initiatives. Term 2 was a busy term as anticipated, however we were able to incorporate programs into the schedule in the boarding house which enhances connections along with leadership skills, companionship and cultural activities.
School Clinic
It is hard to believe that we are half way through the year. It has been a very busy Term 2 in the clinic with more than the usual colds, flus, chest infections and sporting injuries.
The physios continue to work closely with the clinic. If you would like updates on your son’s treatment please contact them directly or let us know.
Can I please ask that if your son has been unwell during the holidays, or has an injury, that you let the clinic know. If your son is unwell at the end of the holidays, please keep him with you until he is feeling better.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone back for Term 3.
